Just a reminder that a loaded 1993 Supra Turbo cost an inflation adjusted price over 70 grand.
Thats all.

85 Pickup in base spec was 5,995. I own this ultra base model, what’s that in 2017 dollars. (greenbacks, not blue and purple canadian money)

that’d be a solid deal, if the truck buyers of today weren’t such a bunch heated steering wheel needing pussies. (was going to say heated leather pussies but it looked funny).

Oh im sure, if you found like you could buy one in 93, you could probably get 70k for it. Just thinking back on how expensive it was to combat rose colored glasses syndrome. But yeah, if you could time machine a 93 forward...thats a good investment.

incase jezebel is watching: I fully respect the vagina. I’m asking truck buyers not to be such a bunch a bunch of pussies (totally different)

Except that truck would never meet safety standards without another few grand thrown at it, which is one reason really cheap new cars don’t exist here like they do in other markets.

Im thinking starting mid 70's to low 80's. I figure that my car cost $73,368 but its current equivalent costs ~85 grand...its fair to assume a modern Supra aint going to be cheap, even a little.

And maybe grab some air cooled cars while you’re back in 93.

Is there some kind of reverse inflation calculator? Like $50k salary in today’s money is $25k in the 90's, I know it would be more than $25k but just an example.

The loaded ones will be six figures though. I’m saying it starts where the old one peaked.

$50k=$31k in today’s money (1995) I was close! Reversing it shows $50k being $79k in 1995
Bytemite

I think you may have it reversed...If 50k in 1995 = 31k today, and if 50k today is equal to 79k in 1995, that would mean deflation which would mean a dollar is worth more today, which it isn’t. Maybe you meant to say 50k today can buy 79k (also in today’s dollars) worth of stuff in 1995? But then that’s a confusing way to put it.
It’s easier to say purchasing power of today’s 50k is equal to 31k in 1995 dollars. So 50k today = 31k in 1995 money.

I can’t into math lol. I was trying to see how much the buying power was back then by comparing the average salary of $50k today vs. making $50k in 1995.

Which is exactly why it, the 300ZX and 3000GT didn’t sell at the end of their respective runs. Great cars, but price was driven above what the market would bear.
